Learning the hard way

Published by justjessi under My Life, bipolar, medicine Edit This

I’m new to the bipolar world but when they tell you not to stop taking your medications they have a purpose behind it.  I, like a dummy, stopped taking my antidepressant for two days - I figured I had to go to the doctor for a med change anyway so what would the harm be in not refilling the prescription until I was sure I was going to stay on it, no need to waste money you don’t really have right?

Wrong!

I went threw withdrawal symptoms for two days.  Achy, sweaty, bitchier than normal, and nauseous beyond belief.  I had no clue that stopping one little pill could throw your body into such chaos.

I did however get my meds changed, they took me off three medications and replaced them with something called Abilify.  So far I’m noticing no difference in mood, still scared to go out and I’m tense as hell…I’m driving myself insane.

And I find out that I can take NO birth control that has hormones in it, but getting pregnant on this medication is extremely dangerous to the baby…hmm.  And I’m allergic to latex.

Fun…
